The Nikon 5cm f1.1 lens is quite a legend but photos taken with it are not very common on the net.

Please post your photos here!

I do not have this lens and will almost certainly never have it but I am very interested to see how it performs, especially wide open.

Thanks in advance!

Very soft at wide open. Very narrow depth of field. In around few meters, you will have a sharp nose but not the eyes.

You mentioned in another thread that you have this lens, do you have any photos to share?

It is not VERY SOFT wide open. It isn't razor sharp either, but it is very decent.

TWok - Looking forward to see the results after the repair!!

Me too!

The other day, I took some test shots with an internal mount 50/1.1 currently for sale at Lucky Camera in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Central sharpness seemed good even at f1.1, but as you'd expect from a super fast 50mm lens from the 1950's, it was pretty soft in the corners (even when stopped down to f2.8). My test shots aren't particularly interesting so I'll refrain from posting them here.

What's the price for the one at Lucky Jon? BTW, I worked with my Amedeo adapter all day Sunday and couldn't get it to work. On top of that the thin piece of metal surrounding and just rear of the rear element touches the RF cam on M-mount cameras at all focusing distances, without filing that I don't see how any adapter could work correctly with the lens. I'd be interested in seeing your test shots. I really want a 85/1.5 now. I might just grab the cheap LTM version and use it on my Ikon.

I once used a 50 1.1 in a lens comparison of 50mm lenses. Kiu was kind enough to lend me the lens. The lens needed some shimming, but by mistake, I used the lens on a Contax camera, and the error in shimming became less.

Nope, sorry I'm sending them off today. It will be another week or two before I have anything back.
