the difference between the zi finder and anything else i have ever looked through is like the difference between a bathroom window and a big bay window.

The best camera is one that still works!

Can't disagree with that statement ... they really are amazing. I'm wondering how the finder on my soon to arrive R4A will compare to the Ikon's ... it could not possibly be as good ... but how close?

I started doing minor shots for the college paper, (an entry to this business of snapping about), surrounded by the vulgarity of plastic nonsense it occurred to me that the IKON is liberating photography from the clutches of the boorish. We will be revered among vespa collectors and radio control enthusiasts alike. Meanwhile basking in all the glory of being misunderstood and sullen. Never in my life have I been so warmly berraded by a mix of strangers and a willingness to learn what has become a fixture around my shoulder/neck. I guess that the true solidification of any camera worth its salt. -sdf

Lame question, perhaps but does the ZI have a metal or cloth shutter?

Genuine Lizardskin ...
Just completed this afternoon.
The reskin is not difficult. Instead I spent hours vacillating between this Cobalt Blue and a Wine Red to adorn the black beauty.
The conclusion was that BOTH were dramatically impressive.
Next came another long while figuring out where best to place the coarse and the fine scaly textures on the body for maximum effect.
Unlike the Olympus OM SLRs, the ZI body front has these 2 straight vertical lines just either side of the lens flange, makes it look unelegant.
Anyway, I chose blue just so I can match the Zeiss blue pimple on the lens !
pls say you like it ...

I recommend you reskin yours in the lizard Yellow Ochre colour.
With a black body, its stunning ! Becos the blackish patterns will 'diffuse' nicely from the solid black body, just like my Cobalt Blue.
