Hello,

I am having fun shooting my new Mamiya 6. I have a general question regarding the stiffness of the focusing rings on the lens and with the winding mechanism. I think the camera might benefit from a CLA, to lubricate some parts to make them turn more smoothly and easily. The focus rings are a little slow to turn, maybe the lube has dried up some from disuse. How is everybody's focusing rings, are they a little still stiff or are they loose? I guess I am used to the focusing rings on some of my Leica lenses, which turn a lot more easily.

Have people sent their Mamiya 6s in for a CLA? Any recommendations on someone who will do a good job? I have heard of Nippon Photo Clinic in Manhattan. Anybody have experience with them?

Regards,

Larry

I'm curious too. I have a student who has an interest in this camera, but is worried about repair. I thought talking to a repair person might help him decide, but haven't come up with a name.

Folding Mamiya 6??????????

Folding Mamiya 6??????????

Jurgen Kreckel, who goes by Certo6 on eBay. The master of folding cameras in my book. I have bought from him. He also did a new bellows and a CLA on one of my folding Mamiya 6 cameras. My dealings with the man have been excellent. He has a web site and you can get to it from his seller info on his eBay listings. He was VERY reasonable on the bellows/CLA on my Mamiya.

Do and advanced search and then search by seller (certo6) on ebay. If you don't find it, post back and I will dig it up for you. He is located on the East Coast of the US.

Maybe you would like to ship it to the Mamiya Repair Center in the Netherlands, exellent sevice, fair prices, good work.
I brought mine on a Thursday night and could pick it up with a new winding mechanism on the following Sunday (yes, Sunday !!).
