I've been offered a Plustek 7200, second hand of course at £100. Question is....is this model any good? I could get a Plustek 8100 for under £200. Would this produce noticeably better results? I am not intending to scan a lot and I'll print even fewer and then no bigger than A4. Main use will be for viewing on my laptop/ipad. Cheers!

I don't know about the 7200 but I have the 7600 AI and I think it works great. It is pretty simple but seems to do a very good job of scanning the 35mm negative. It is very portable so it is easy to work with and then put away.

I have one right next to me right now. It works very well! The SilverFast user interface is nice enough, but I'm still trying to figure out how to create any kind of workflow with the NegaFix program that comes with it. Also, the tray has a click system to park it right on the next frame, but on mine it's rather vague. You can adjust while pre-scanning though. Scanning negative strips from a Kiev RF with their infamously random frame spacing might be a chore as the strip tray has set frame edges.

Unfortunately I can't say how much better an 8100 will perform.

Im scanning with an 8100. Find it excellent for B&W scanning. I use veuscan though because i seem to get mor information from my scans with a easier workflow.

Certainly a good little combo to get scanning.
