I've been going nuts these past couple of months comparing point & shoots, then out of nowhere, the GR1v package of my dreams popped up on Adorama last night. Was listed in "Excellent +" condition and comes with box, manual, hood, and a couple of filters. I thought the price was pretty good too ($549), so I bought it and it should be here in a few days!
I've read so much about the GR1's and have seen so may great photos taken with them, I can't wait to start shooting with it. Any GR1 users here have some tips/advice for me before I start? The only thing that scares me though are the LCD issues with the GR1's.

I just got my GR1 yesterday and it lasted a whole roll before the lcd went bust! Now when I hit the mode button nothing displays except the single area af mode and whenever it's in any other mode it locks in the left af point and never goes to the other two.I've been going nuts these past couple of months comparing point & shoots, then out of nowhere, the GR1v package of my dreams popped up on Adorama last night. It's a pity. The design is simplicity itself and it's so small it fits in a shirt pocket. I'll probably just find another one that's working.

Ugh, that's terrible. Where did you buy it from? I thought I remember reading somewhere that Ricoh or some 3rd party place can still repair GR1's.

I got it from KEH. They were great about taking it back though. It was just bad timing.

I'm thinking of getting a Klasse S or W instead. Only thing is I would prefer something that I could pocket.

Does Fuji still make these? I'm seeing a lot of listings on Ebay for new Klasse S/W's....

At least, they still have them listed on Fuji.jp

But compared to they Ricohs they are "bricks"!
A lot heavier, but very well made.

imho: I'd give the Ricoh GR1 another shot. Its a lot of camera for its size.
