My girlfriend is sick of hearing it and at any rate she doesn't really understand anyway, however I just need to say this once more, then I'll shut up about it forever.

It has been 2 weeks since I got my MP. It is the, hands down, best thing I have ever bought in the entire history of me buying things. Over the course of a week of use the winding mechanism has turned buttery and slick (it was a touch stiff at first) and I swear, somehow it has gotten quieter. If it was perfect to begin with, it has now become an almost sublime piece of equipment.

I highly recommend picking one up.

Give me $2500 and I'll pick one up from Stephen Gandy in a heartbeat...
The MP sure is nice.. but with my own money, I'd take an M6 + Omega Speedmaster for the same price as an MP .. ;-)
 
At one point I almost slapped the cash down for one, but my dead Papa's voice in my head kept saying, "Too...much...moany...." :)
 
Shaaktiman, very glad to hear you are increasingly delighted with the MP! There seem to be few products out there like that; usually we start noticing the defects and the delight fades a bit... until someone criticizes it of course and then we vigorously defend it! :D

FWIW, my comment recalls our experience with a new '98 Ford Ranger Super-cab... we kept discovering more reasons to like it. Unusual... Still have it and still like it too.
 
My wife is certainly sick of hearing about cameras.
I wonder what it will be like one day when I finally get a Leica...will she be yet more annoyed, or will I have become one with my camera, and shut the farkedy up?

$2500? How about popflash.com? $2397. Used like new is code speak for (I believe) brand new gray market. ;)
 
BTW I love my MP as well- it's like a fine Swiss mechanical watch.
 
I don't have an MP, but I felt the same way when I was lucky enough to get an M7, yup it cost the Earth but what a fantastic machine. Don't regret it one jot.

I have no excuse for taking crap photos anymore, never did before either :)

My advice to anyone who wants to knock em for what ever reason (cost, shape, shutter) simple, don't buy one. They are not everyones ideal RF. There are alternatives.

I was wundering wut best to doo with all that green stuff under my matriss. They say it's "m-u-n-n-y" - - - they say it can be traded for "k-a-m-r-u-z". But munny smells nice, and it adds a littul cushyness to my matriss that I much enjoi. Kamruz are just for taking pixurs. My little 1.2 megapixel Agfa is just as good as the old M6 I had (witch I sold off to by a signed Britney Spears CD). I have poster size prince from the Agfa that blow my mind. The last time I put kamruz under my matriss, my bed was lumpy and dering the night I herd sounds like litul fingerz on glass every time I rolled over.

You spended too much munny for kamruz like-a M6 - ha ha, but it is not a REAL m6 - just LIKE-A M6. I had a M6, but I like Britney Spears better.

For costly buys I always use one-thousand dollar bills. Surely you have these in America? :)
 
I guess you had to sell all the gold to buy the MP, hence the avatar change. I'd say it was worth it. Enjoy!
