I think I was supposed to be helping....
Spent just shy (days) of 6 years in the fire service. I worked in southern California. Seen nearly everything you can imagine, and then some. I tried to carry a camera with me to take photos of various encounters but I almost always forgot or was not able to because I needed to be doing other things. This house was a complete loss -- I mean complete.

There was a fire at a nearby marina and the crew on a tugboat responded until the fire department could get there. They had breathing gear and could get closer. I stood on a close dock and used Nikon with 70-300mm.

This is an old one from the Delmarva Peninsula, a special place in America. I was driving down a country road and caught this barn on fire with the local volunteer fire fighters putting it out. And the large fellow in the foreground is a bonus. It was an abandoned barn set alight by the fire department as a training event. They put out the fire and saved the Delmarva Peninsula I am happy to tell you.
