Me too, Dave. Or the 50/3.5 but wait, it's not on the list either. Hmmm, sort of a forced choice here.

I doubt it that several RFF members have owned or currently own all types of CV lenses that are mentioned in the poll. Typically, a person will rank order the lenses he/she happens to own. If I own two CV lenses, then I would pick as the "sharpest CV lens" whichever lens I find sharper among my two lenses. If you own one CV lens, as I do, I have little choice but to either view my lens as sharp, and vote for it to be the sharpest, or I don't like the sharpness of my single lens, and then I randomly take my pick among the listed CV lenses in the poll.
If we can envision each of us owning exactly two lenses, and then we pick the sharper one, then maybe and with a very large number of votes, the results of such a poll may give useful indicators on which lenses a viewed as sharper. Even then, we need to have a vast number of votes with a variety of "pairs" of lenses per person voting.
Maybe I am looking to deep into such polls. Am I?

Have you compared your 50mm lens with the 21mm lens at the same aperture and when using a tripod? Wide angle images can "appear"sharper simply by making everything look smaller, when compared to 50mm lens.

i'm sorry you didn't vote for this reason.
i didn't ignore it. there's max 12 items in a poll and i chose to list those that aren't discontinued.

No Ultron 35mm 1.7?

I don't see the Ultron 35mm f/1.7 in the poll?

No problem. I don't mean to be difficult. I just love this lens, and since it seems to get little attention, I feel a need to point it out as often as possible.

I'm not going to vote bcause I've owned the 21, 35 Ultron and now the 75 Heliar and they all are sharp. The concensus amongst posters seems to be that all the lenses are great, just some might be greater than others. Little negative feedback has to a real positive for prospective buyers out there in the market place.

I'm very impressed with the sharpness of the 50/1.5 but I havn't used enough CV lenses to make an accurate statement.

35 f1.7 Ultron if it was on the list. I use this lens more than the rest put together.

Yes indeed! Keep it all starry eyed you starcrossed lovers! I want to dump my second class CV stuff for as much as I can get for it. (And I DO!)

I've got to agree about the 28 Ultron, which someone previously described as "flat."
I used to use this lens a lot, but it has fallen to the back end of my bullpen compared to my Heliar 15, my M-Hexanon 50 and especially my Biogon 35 2.0.
On the other hand, I like my 75mm color Heliar quite a lot, but it's not an everyday lens.

If the poll can only accommodate 12 choices then it's rather pointless to have it, especially when excellent lenses like the 35 Ultron and 28 Ultron aren't listed. And they're still in production as far as I know. Maybe there needs to be two polls -- 50mm and longer, and 40mm and shorter?

If I had the oppurtunity to buy a used Bessa R + Nokton 50 1.5 for $300, would that be a good deal??

OK,
I have been using for about four years now, the 12mm, 21mm, 25mm, 28/1.9, 35/2.5, 35/1.7, 50/1.5 & 75mm.
Also, for some much needed visual spice, a Canon F1.2, and a sweet Jupiter-9.
They are all called into order, at certain times, depending on my mood. Wouldn't say any one is better, or -sharper-, or any more useful, than any of the others.

That would be a great deal. I paid $250 CDN for my Nokton alone, which was a good deal at the time. Scrathes on the body are no big deal...
