Since I'm contemplating the purchase of a (1995) 50 mm 'Cron, this thread is of special interest to me. There is a lot of solid experience showing here.
At the same time there is a number of steps in getting from the capture lens to the final print that surely play an important role and can't be ignored.
For instance, I've settled on XP2 as the film of choice, Nikon (4000) scanner, ink jet printing, carbon-only inks and cotton-rag-only paper. I wonder how sharply the specific choice of 50 mm lens would stand out in this workflow?
