I had many wides, but I reach for the 35 (50 FF) all the time. You can pick up my 28 for a steal right now on the 'bay. 😀
Certainly worth trying, as you can easily compare what you see in the VF with the review display on the screen. Correlation will vary with subject distance, and of course you will miss parallax correction by not using moving framelines. The Leica M9's specs call out a .68 magnification for the viewfinder, and it has framelines for the 28, 35, 50, 75 and 90mm lenses. I have a 24mm Elmar 3.8 and I'd like to know if you think I can use it on the M9 without the accessory finder - could I just use the viewfinder since it wouldn't it basically be the full viewfinder frame - no framellines needed?
Keith, The 24mm was always my favorite lens when I shot film with an SLR (Canon F1). I'm in line to purchase the M9 and I already bought the 24 Elmar (cart before the horse, I know). But I'm a bit worried about the viewfinder, framelines, etc. since its a .68 viewfinder. Since you use the 24 on your M8 a lot, how do you think it will work on an M9? Any hunches?A lens worth more than the camera itself ... 🙄
Yes I am envious ... 😀
