Hello,
I have read through the forum and found an inconsistency regarding the position of the shutter speed display in the viewfinder. According to Forum messages the display is at the bottom of the viewfinder and hard to find. According to the official manual and the Zeiss website its as follows:
Viewfinder display: LED symbols for selected shutter speed along left side of frame. Warnings for out of range shutter speeds and low battery
So what is the correct position? Or am I mixing things up here?
Regards,
Hans

It is on the left - and it is hard to see if wearing glasses. Under bright light conditions it is hard to see the LEDs, too. I personally don't care - I usually can guess the expected exposure time. But it is certainly an area of potential improvement in the otherwise outstanding ZI viewfinder.

Its the only flaw of the ZI veiwfinder in my opinion, plus I found it hard to see in bright like conditions, also I wear glasses and it was just kinda in the side of my vision but not where I could look at it comfortably enough

In bright light the shutter speed numbers can disappear. In my experience this is the one significant weakness of the ZI.
If you are using transparency film and if you are shooting under very dynamic conditions in bright light, this could be a big problem.
Otherwise, I hold my left hand at about an 11:00 position and the shutter speed numbers become more readable. Once I understand the exposure range, I choose the appropriate exposure settings and don't worry about viewing the shutter speed. I change the exposure manually based on EV changes (sun goes behind a cloud, subject is in partial shae, etc.).

It is on the left side of the viewfinder on mine at least - kind of a pain to see it, too. I do most of the shots with AE right now, so this isn't a big deal. IN full manual mode, I tend to use an external meter, so that isn't so much of an issue either ...makaroni said:Hello,
