New York Possible October Meet-Up at PhotoPlus Expo???

Photo Plus Expo at the Javet's Center is the last weekend in October. Generally I go in the morning when they first open to avoid the mob scene that happens later. Perhaps a very different kinda Meet-Up of going to the show and then maybe lunch at Uncle Jacks near Penn Station. Uncle Jacks also has beer.

What do you guys and gals think?

Perhaps someone could create a link. I go in the morning because by noon its a mob scene. The Leica booth kinda crushes the Nikon booth BTW every year.

Having a seperate meet-up in the afternoon is cool.

The Photo Plus Expo will open on Thursday, Oct 27. It's a great outing idea. Do we want a separate meet-up on the same day or over an afternoon in the weekend of the same week?

I'm just not that into these expos because it's all about gear that I can see other places...or 99.9999% have no interest in... but I would go though if it is going to be our only meet-up for October.

The Photo Plus Expo is a big event that is more than just gear. There are seminars, classes, gallery exhibits, lectures, demos, receptions, parties... that take 3 days to participate in all the events. BTW this might mean having to pay.

What I'm proposing is going to the exhibit for free Saturday (29th of October) morning and breaking off at noon. We could have a regular meet-up at Puck Fair at 1:00. Hopefully the firemen don't claim our spot again.

Last year I saw a M9 Titanium. It was not yet released at the time I believe.

Just seeing the Leica booth is worth the trip because of the photography.

In the old days I use to leave with bags of free samples, bags and books. Every year they have specials. Last year I bought a brand new rotory cutter for about half price taking advantage of just one of the show specials.

And, I did found the hood (#12466) on eBay-PopFlash. $379+$10 shipping is pretty steep. But, the hood looks really good with less blockage. It will give new live to my 35 Lux (old version). You've got me thinking.

The Meet-Up will be Saturday morning the 29th of October so we can go to the exhibits for free. Also going early means your more likely to get most of the free-bees. Generally I like to accumulate a years supply of lens cleaning microcloth for free. I figure if we break off by noon, we can still meet-up at Puck Fair with others at 1:00 PM.

Accually I only paid $359.00 for the 12466 hood at Pop Flash, but I paid $20.00 for fast shipping. I wanted to avoid the USPS because where I live in Queens the U.S. Mail is like that of a third world country.

The hood I'm not so sure fits the old 35 Lux non ASPH. Call me vain, but I just had to have the scalloped hood because of "Evil Factor" alone.

Also what gives this year with Halloween being a Monday. Is the parade on Monday on a workday?
