New York Possible October Meet-Up at PhotoPlus Expo???

How awesome would it be if the D800 were unveiled or shown at the expo?

Not that awesome to me... but you being Lord Nikon, I'm sure it would be awesome. :) I know Jeff Colen and John Chee would love it too.

Arri,

Could happen. This is the proper and apropriate venue for Nikon to make an impact and splash.

I saw a M9 Titanium I believe before it was formally released at the Expo at the Leica booth a while back.

UPDATE: I'm in the process of moving and my life is a total mess. Unexpectently found a great place to live in Madhattan in East Harlem, but its only a one bedroom and that means getting rid of 75% of the things I own, and because I'm a hoarder this is a headache.

Hopefully I will be organized enough to make the meet-up. On top of that the girlfriend says that a lot of our old retro furniture won't go with the contemporary open floorplan and floor to ceiling windows, so add in extreame make-over/woman factor.

Yep, I will be there on Saturday bright and early. That was the event where I first laid my hands on a 24 Lux, and met Eric Luden, the owner of Digital Silver Imaging. Ever since then, I have been a loyal customer whenever I need b/w silver gelatin prints from my digital capture/scanned negatives. Similar to but not as good as in CP+ in Toyko, some manufacturers bring in models. If you are interested, I would recommend a good telephoto lens with fast films.

Arri/John - Nikon D4 is due this year based on past product rolling out schedule, not sure about D800. I am not holding my breath for what Nikon has to offer this year given the delay in Sendai.

Cal- Congrats for the new address. I know all too well on getting rid of things, I have two dumpsters of stuff when I moved from Connecticut to New York, and gradually vacated my self-storage over a span of 5 years. If you need a safe place to temporary store your Noct-NIKKOR, I can do it for free for as long as you like.

Is it too early to plan where to meet up? Or is it "every man for himself" at the photo expo?

In any case, Id like to meet up with someone before the subway ride to Puck-Fair so I dont wind up on Long Island, or something.

Hey,
Maybe they'll let us drag the Sony NEX 7 (with a few adapters) over to the Leica booth and we can have some real fun.
Cal, bring the wire cutters.

Yes, Tung... I was, but no longer am. Thanks anyway. I need to fo9rget about DSLRs. My trip to B&H yesterday confirmed that. :)

John,

I already had some of my friends come by to store my guitar, bass and vintage tube amp collection in their houses out on Lawn-Guy-Land. They already loaded up a mini-van and need to comback for another load. Unfortunately might have to miss both both the Expo and the Meet-Up.

Andre said, "You really know who your friends are when you move." I'm very touched by all my friends stepping up to help me out. The actual move in will be not stressful because almost no furniture is going.

My girlfriend decided that all our old comfy retro funiture doesn't fit into our small luxury apartment, so not only am I downsizing, I'm also performing an episode of extreame makeover at the same time. LOL. The Monday after we move in a furniture delivery is scheduled.

Anyways interesting culture moving to Madhattan where you have to have insurance for moving and deliveries, where you have to complete your move in under three hours, and where you even have to schedule a time slot.

Huh? I did none of this.

I'm new to luxury and basically learning on the fly. Had to add my landlord's name onto my renter's insurance as part of the lease agreement.

I'm hoping I will stay for the next 18 years or so.

Next is securing studio space to set up a wet darkroom. The idea is a small comfortable one bedroom and a separate work studio.

So, where are we meeting prior to expo (in front of Javitts?) and at what time (10:00?)?

Also, what time is the puck fair meet-up (for those who aren't going to the EXPO? 12:00 or 1:00?

Let me know what works for everyone... I'm flexible.

I was thinking meet inside the Javits center at 10:00 AM by the registration booths. Even if you pre-registered and get your badge mailed to you there is a booth to get a badge holder and your goody bag.

At 12:00 noon herd-Up with Lord Nikon near the Nikon Booth to gather the straglers and head to the Meet-Up at Puck Fair.

The regular Meet-Up at Puck Fair is at 1:00PM.

I'm going to try and make it, but if I do I may have to leave the Puck Fair portion early. I don't know if my friends are coming out Saturday or Sunday for another van load of guitars, amps and basses. Rumor has it that my one friend who is a guitar builder has to meet with customers Saturday.

I'll know more towards the end of the week. BTW my musician friends are a lot of fun, but they tend to always be last minute. Guess they like always being in the moment.

sorry to be missing the meet-ups, but am learning to swim in the ocean on weekends before it gets TOO cold.

Have fun!

Sounds good to me Cal...

HLing, we meet every month and you already know what we do...so, you aren't missing much hahaha. However, the months where it is cold less people show up, so we can use you during those months. :) Good luck.

Before it gets too cold? If we have snow near the city today, there might have ice floes by Saturday.

Cal - glad to hear that you still plan to come. See you at 10 am by the registration counter.

Just learned that the Occupy Wall Street folks will have a rally on Saturday between noon (City Hall Park) and 2:00 p.m. (Liberty Square, a.k.a. Zucotti Park). While in the downtown area, I am thinking to squeeze in an hour between PhotoPlus and Puck Fair to "cover" the rally with my M2.
