Been to their shop once. Great selection, service. I hope your friend (wife?) feels better soon. Choosing a bow is sometimes more difficult than the instrument itself! Needs to match tonally with her viola (sort of like matching a lens to an M8 that won't backfocus! LOL). And the prices of these older French bows are through the roof. But they are really an investment. Anyway nice pics, as always, and tell her good luck in choosing bow!
She is better, thanks (girlfriend, btw). And you're right, it's as about as dedicated as finding that one lens that matches your tools and your vision/ear/style --if you're into that sort of thing.

I told her that if she gave me her budget, I'd get the tickets, fly us to Paris, shop around, get a nice deal, and have some cash left. Unfortunately, a musician's schedule is always in conflict with a regular 8-5'er. :(

Thanks for the comments. :)

I used lightroom, I have a ton of presets I've made and messed around with I have trouble keep tracking of it...but if you keep playing with the sliders it looks cool :D

M8 at the Miami Metrozoo

M8 at the Miami Metrozoo

As I have two children (ages 10 & 7) our weekend social calendar is usually filled with birthdays. This weekend we attended one at the Miami Metrozoo. One of the other Dads was there with his Canon 5D + 500mm lens and I with my M8 + 75mm Color-Heliar. Here is a sample and a link to the photo set on Flickr.

C&C always welcome.

Shots are generally uncropped ( a couple were cropped a tiny bit to remove extraneous stuff ) and little or no post processing Lightroom. I am really digging the improvements from the new firmware.

All of the shots were from a moving tram BTW.

Link to photo set.

Here are a few of mine from the past couple of days.

Carl,
This is a wonderful portrait. Would you mind posting the technical details?

Thanks!

I'd love too, but I'm really bad at remembering what I was using.
I think that was the Zeiss Sonnar but it could of been the Biogon. 1/30th of a second, ISO 640. Not sure of the aperture. Shot raw converted in lightroom with minor global adjustments and cropped.

the tech specs would probably go something like this surely ?:

well seen, well composed, well lit, well acted

would have been an engaging pic with a pinhole camera

Monterey Ca. M8, 35 summicron, f2. iso 320, dng. Converted to B&W in C1 V4 saved as tiff. Crunched and compressed jpeg in Nikon Capture to take up small bandwidth on web.

The printeed version looks very nice to my eye.

John...
