I've just been holidaying in Canada for a couple of weeks. I took my film M cameras as I don't like the chore of digital processing on my return. However, for a few months I've owned 2 GXR bodies and 4 M mount units and, as they've seen little action since their purchase, I thought I'd give them a run over the 3 days we managed to obtain in the area of Lake O'Hara. Managing to book a campsite in this limited access area is not easily done. We had long treks in mind and I thought I'd appreciate the compact nature of the GXRs.
I set the cameras up to use in manual mode. I didn't use my EVFs (although I did take them). Whilst photographing I could see the very useful virtual horizon, and the histogram and the exposure meter. Perfect. I took two M mount sensors, a Voigt 15/4.5 and a voigt 25/4 color skopar, as well as a 50 summicron and a 90/4 Collapsible Elmar. I found the experience surprisingly enjoyable. I'm usually really frustrated with digital cameras but things weren't too bad at all. Infact, on leaving O'Hara, I continued using the setup on the Iceline trail with views to Takakkaw Falls.
I mainly used the 15 and 25 which surprised me.

only recently got myself a Gxr as a smaller substitute for my dslr. Always wanted to play with rangefinder lenses....and now see myself getting a bessa and some CV lenses down the track :-D , but for now, i have a jupiter 8 and 12, and adapting my old pentax glass as well. here is one with the jupiter 8. just playing with it whilst taking the pooch for a walk.

Welcome to rff posting btw. Easier to manage GXR than DSLR with a big pooch in tow, no?

Used two lenses with different character and kind of troublesome in the post.
The Industar is just nice, only need to raise the black point.
The Ultron had too much contrast.

Very nice shots with the CV21, Tri Tran. Early reports had it low contrast and soft corners.

Looks good to me.

Is that Clement St?

Gustaf, looks like we had the same morning fog as you at 44.7 N in Oregon yesterday. Hard to balance the light at ground level with the sun burning through, no?

^^Terrific little people room with chaperone/visitant, and virtually everyone focusing in different directions. And the ball in mid-air, perfect, with the boy's delight pointing us to it.

These are among the first night experiments with the C-Sonnar I acquired from Dave Lam. Looks like I may have to sell the Planar....
