*** Post your Kodachromes ***

Excellent pictures here.
Thanks all for sharing!

I used Kodachrome during the 80ies. Very good film.
But at the beginning of the 90ies I've switched to E6 films.
Because at that time they surpassed Kodachrome.
More neutral, natural colours, finer grain, better sharpness, higher resolution and much better colour stability when held at light and in projection (a weakness of Kodachrome).
The advantage of E6 increased strongly from that time on, each new E6 film have been better.
Provia 400X now has higher resolution than K64 (!):

Thank you for reviving thread. So many beautiful colours. I loved K64.

Very glad to see this thread back also. Top picture -- where is it? Has the feel of Newfoundland, like Bonne Bay.

Tightsqueez,

that shot of the explosive going off (and the story you had with it back when you posted) are iconic to me! Always impressed by shot and story.

Again, thanks for posting and I never knew it was Kodachrome you shot it on.

Thank you. Kodachrome was the only capturing medium that I felt accurately depicted a scene, and to this day I still feel that way. Looking back on these slides gives me the goosebumps because of this quality. It's crazy to think with our needed perception of high ISO's... all of these were shot with a 64 ISO film, and a the fastest lens I had at the time was a Summicron!

If it wasn't for these images, the memory and the story that accompanied them would have been lost. And what a crazy story it was! On that note, there is a story with the image of all the paintings. I've been meaning to add it but keep forgetting.

I owe it to everyone to start sharing these stories.

I bought a signet that had a rolll of Kodachrome in it and I want to know if its possible to have it developed anywhere in the known universe. If not, is there anyway to at least get some kind of image out of it with black and white or c41 chemicals?

You can only use black and white now to get an image out of Kodachrome. Dwayne's in Kansas was the last place to develop Kodachrome in this hemisphere. Last roll developed was Steve McCurry's.
With regard to C-41, it has a bleaching agent which will remove all silver deposits (that's what it is for) and if you put standard black & white film (non-chromogenic) through C-41, you will get nothing but a clean, clear film base. Same with Kodachrome through C-41.

The young man in this picture, my younger brother, was 2-1/2 years old when this was taken around Easter of 1956. He'll turn 60 next week!

maybe this thread should be titled "post and re-post your kodachromes"
Sadly i'd never really heard of kodachrome before the last roll was developed. I wish I had shot some.

Maybe there should be an "impossible project" version of development... not sure how many rolls are left out there...

the colours in this thread are glorious. please keep posting.
