First shots with my "new" Hexar

I just received my "new" Hexar AF, what a great little camera!

This is my first time posting pictures here,
the B&W is tmax 400@800

The color shots are super expired Kodak Gold 200, dev+sca by Walgreens.

Great photos! They make me want to pick up my Hexar AF right now and go out to take photos :)

Thanks!

...yep, the worst thing about this camera, is putting it down! Can't stop shooting, this can become expensive...

I also noticed a lot of times people ask what neck strap to buy for the Hexar AF. I just bought a Think Tank "Camera strap V2..0" , and it is perfect for this camera!

Another awesome, awesome strap for the Hexar is the "spike" strap from David Grubbs. You can check them out at www.wapitistraps.com. I used to use Domke grippers on pretty much all of my cameras, but about a year ago I started moving to these wapiti straps as I found them far more comfortable on my shoulders and less prone to strap wear at the lugs.

I just got this new one for the hexar and I'm so glad that I did.

To sell or not to sell the AF...

To sell or not to sell the AF...

I've "enjoyed" an on-off affair with the Hexar AF in the few years I've had it. I love the lens and the way it draws but I don't like the slightly woolLy framelines. Composition is a big part of my work and not knowing exactly what's going to be in the shot is a pain.

Now, though, I'm beginning to wonder if I've just been using it the wrong way. I tend to carry it as a walkabout camera with Agfa APX 100 on board but I think it's probably better suited to indoor photography with a 400 ISO-plus film, maybe Tri X souped in Diafine.

I'd more or less made up my mind to sell it (Hexar AF -a dilemma) but I'll maybe give it one last try in its new role. I want an excuse to keep it just for the stellar lens! What do you all think?

My advice is to keep the Hexar AF. If you had said that your example pictures were taken with a Pentax 67, I would believe that.

Well, I was in similar situation. Finally, I sold it cause I can't let my combo M6+35/2 gathering the dust on shelf. Tough though.

I suppose if one owned an M6 and a 35 cron as well as the Hexar and were forced to sell one I could certainly understand keeping the Leica, but for those of us that are not as fortunate to have such a dilemma, I feel like the quality capable from the Hexar is practically the next best thing.

I love my Hexar, there are things that gripe me about it, but nothing has been so major that I'd want to give it up. I shoot mostly slower B&W / Color film through mine, but I've done several rolls of 400+ and they are always magnificent.

It is simply a camera that gets out of your way and let's you focusing on composition, I enjoy it for that.

Hi all - here are some shoots from my Hexar with fujicolor x-tra 400 film..comments and good advise are very appriciated:)

Short set from Powell St SFO: the cable car crowd enjoying sunlight, the hatemonger & signwavers dispensing amplified judgment, a girl wondering why this man keeps shouting at her family and other polite people in line--and Edward & Mustapha arriving to overcome hate with beats, street tap, and joyous movement.
