I kept turning the crank but it wouldn't start. Even though this is California, the back country folk can be a little touchy, in between these two shots I had to calm the owner of the property. I was on a fire road and not on his property but he was very...... "concerned".
 
Few of these look like daily drivers. Folks don't seem to drive cars 10 years anymore.
The average new car costs $48,000. No wonder people complain about being broke.

And yet they buy (or lease) them. Apparently the economy is good enough for them to afford that expense, and filling up with the premium fuel these require.

Yeah, you do look kind of suspicious. He may have been raising weed which would make him jumpy. Between the cops and the criminals it is a dicey business.

I can see how a guy standing out in the street with a camera shooting facing his yard might have been concerning, as there's lots of the weed in them thar hills too.
