Post your two favorite street photos

I apologize, that shot of my grandfather is not a street shot. Sometime during the 5 pages of great photos I lost sight of the theme.

Can't get rid of it, so please ignore it and take this as a replacement. :)

stuart, is there a reson you never use the thumbnails?

Joe -- yes, I like to be able to take down or change the photos if I decide to at a later date. By attaching them to the thumbnails I am essentially signing them over to a website I have no control over. Also, I figure that 99.9% of people browsing on RFF have some sort of broadband connection and do not mind downloading files that are around 100kb each.

Those are my reasons. If I really really really have to stop doing it, I will, but I will not be happy about it at all.

I like the shot of your Grandfather. But I think there is a way you can delete it if you wanted to (this for Stuart too).

Under User CP, on the bottom left of the screen there is a link to a list of all the attachments you have posted. From there it appears you can select and delete them.

Chris -- if it is possible to delete it later, it is great, but I do want to add that it does not really change matters in the control aspect. It would mean going back and finding every post where you included the photo, and if someone quoted it you are out of luck since you can't delete their posts. It is also a cross site thing -- let's say I posted that photo at photo.net and fred miranda as well and I decided I wanted to delete it or change it. With it hotlinked from my site, I can change or remove it from my site, and it disappears or changes everywhere else as well. If it is loaded up to each individual website, then I either have to find a way to remove or change it from all of them (possibly having to resort to dealing with the site administrators), or resign myself that it will always be out there floating in the ether. Something about that just gives me a bad feeling.

** Remember be selective - post the two photos that you really think are your best **

I'll try it. there is an handful whci I'd cionsider to be my favourits, no clue tho if they are the best.

The girlies pic is the only unsharp pic I ever posted in a gallery, but in this case i think it can be considered as part of the dynamic concept: Bessa R, Nok, f2 1/30, Bw400CN, NO flash, free hand. I love the pic because it tells something about the lihgt and easy way of life that gets lost with our youth forever.

The little observer looks like sitting in front of a screen, an effect I intended but did not expect to work TAHT well. It must be the triple contrast of static and dynamic and sharp and unsharp and bright and dark that makes him look like cut and paste. Like shot with a (AAAARRRRGH!!!! APAGE SATANAS !!!!! ) digital camera ! It's not the scanner's effect, the print has the same amazing look.
Ricoh R35 with 4/30mm, f11 1/125, BW 400 CN

Best,
Bertram

I don't think these can be said to be all time favourites, but they are recent (within the last few months) favourites shot on the R-D1.

Like Bertram I was concerned that my picture titled "The World..." was not really sharp, but it was a real grab shot while crossing the road, avoiding the traffic and without getting the camera up to my eye before it disappeared - no second shot chance. I still rather like it.

The second picture was shot on the Eurostar train coming back from Paris so I not sure it counts as a "street" picture. I could of course post a replacement, but that would be 3 "recent" favourites. ;)

The percentage of us 'Dial-ups' is much higher than .1%, believe me. While a 100k pic doesn't take all that long to load even with dial-up, I post on-line pics of 40k to 80k that look terrific, just don't try to print them.
. It's my friend who sends 1mg+ photos that drives me nuts. :bang:

i don't think we have a 'rule' or anything that forbids it. jorge started it to keep the site loading quickly, something about bandwidth...

my concern is the larger pics that have to be viewed by moving the screen around. it's annoying, though these last pics were not that large.

thanks for the answer.

Hey Joe,
In my experience the physical size rule of 500x700 has more to do with keeping it visible on the average person's screen. That's what's always worked for me anyway ~ ; - )

I always speak of you in 'Hushed tones".
And don't call me Shirley.

Some nice shots so far.

Here are two from a while back that were popular with those who saw them and I'd say they're a couple from my top bunch of favorites.
