Postage buddies wanted - And hello

Hello there.

Firstly, I just joined. I'm 27, male, idiot, crazy, stupid, fun. My moto in life (you can go search it on the net under my avatar name): Life is to short to grow up!

More or less three weeks ago, I looked on the net to find a replacement camera for my dead digicam. Stupid stuff don't last. So I wanted film. Film also teaches you to take pictures, not snapshots. I discovered rangefinders, and now own a Hi-Matic 7s. 2nd roll test.

Unfortunatly I want a few more rangefinders. Unfortunatly as well, mostly they are abroad. SO!!! IS there anyone out there to who I can ship my camera's for the time being, until I have a few I can ship together in order to make my shipping cost lower. I don't intend to buy RF's that are merely for display, I intend to use, hence those camera's get lower prices on auction, but those prices just about match my shipping costs.

I have a Yashica Electro 35 CC I am intersted in in the Netherlands where I will see if I could pursuade the seller to keep it until I could add a few more.

Just a thought. I welcome myself to the forum, I might not be very active, I spend more time on my local adventure motorcycle forum, wilddog.za.net. Have a look if you like, maybe there is someone here that is also form here.

Hope to get to know you all over time and hope I live to not see the last roll of film leaving the last machine of the last factory who makes film for camera's.

I will pay for everything, I just need a friend to whom I can send my items, he stashes them away till I can have a bigger parcel shipped, which in theory will cost me less cause I ship more items at once. Also, since my salary is grossly undervalued to my interests in life, having the item shipped to you till I can pay for the shipping to me later. Thank you so much for that Jim 😀. PM sent.

Both economy and sense in not wanting to start with a dozen cameras. If you believe in volume and chance, of course, a salvo is more likely to bring success than single shots.

Why don't you try scouring the local second hand / charity stores, and browsing through local classifieds? It might take more time, but will save you lots of money. I bet there's plenty of '60s and '70s cameras in SA waiting to be bought. 🙂

Ok, Sam or Pedro.....thuff choice really. I kinda like Pedro more, seems the story could develope more succesfully.

I'm not betting on volume. I have been looking around and I found my Hi-Matic locally, the guy is less than 300km away. But him like me, has some standards and he keeps the ones I like for himself, good fellow him. I have scoured the local shops and I will again, even the local paper. Other than that, Gumtree is my closest bet, but choice is limited, available choice. They might start popping up more as the economic conditions continue, luckily everyone LOVES digital cause its cool. It is, but they break for no reason after the warrenty period.

I am looking for specific ones, not just any rangefinder. Collecting might happen, might not, I'm 27, I'm still stupid you know. In total I have come to find that the overall price for the cameras in question is acceptable, but not the shipping, unless I can ship a few together. I know its a subtle way of you'all ensuring one less auction competitor. 😉😉

Finding these camera's here is like finding a pin in a stack of needles. I might have to go visit old age homes....which....come to think of it.....could provide wonderful pictorial opportunities.
