You can do a search of completed auctions on ebay to see the sale price of a like kit.

My impression is that $460 is a fair price. I don't think it is high, and with some work and time you may be able to do a little better, but I would guess not much better. I would think that the body and lens would at least command $250 each if sold apart. I may be wrong on that, but even if it is $200 each you are in the ballpark.

sounds like a pretty fair price. does it come with, instruction book, strap, body cap, and does it have the green sticker in the back where the film stores. the green sticker say's the firmware has been updated to accept the same lens's as the G2, less the variable zoom. Sounds like it is worth the venture.

For $80.00 more you can get a demo kit from B&H which includes the TLA 200 flash and a 1 year guarantee. I bought one about 6 months ago and have been satisfied. The camera has a green label inside and shows only a tiny mark from being bumped; I don't think it has ever had a roll of film in it. The lens (45 mm f2 Planar) was separately boxed and although marked "used" on the box appears to be new as does the flash. As I live in NYC I bought it in person and was able to inspect two kits before buying. The 45 mm is suposed to be sharper than the 35 mm, but if you prefer 35mm there is no argument. Either way the price is right.

I did the same as Scarpia, I purchased their DEMO kit. My camera body came without a strap, manual, and body cap.

One call to a very nice guy named, Isreal in customer service, and I had all the above next day!. As for the camera body, the back had a fair amount of scratches but nothing that dug into the metal, more like surface abraisions probably from being looked at by a person with a ring or glasses (probably the same sales guy) As scarpia said, the lens said used but looked new.
I found some very small bright marks on the diaphram , I hope amount to nothing.

The flash, TLA 200 looked new and has worked great indoors and outside. I really like it, small compact. The only reason I purchased this kit is, because of the warranty I recieve from Kyocera. But for a camera someone is telling you is like new you probably can't go wrong. Definetly ask to run a roll of quality film through it don't make the mistake of taking the film to a 1 hour photo process facility, take it to a professional establishment it's worth the additional cost. These demo kits are suppose to have been inspected to factory spec and up to the latest mod standard prior to the end of the G1 production (ie Green sticker ) I have run 2 rolls of Fuji NPS through the camera and I really like it it.

Go for it. That's a very good price, provided it comes with boxes, papers, body and lens caps... In sum, if all the ancillary stuff is included.

BTW, I got my G1 and Planar 45/2 for the whooping amount of $435, with shipping. Granted: no boxes or anything fancy but a lens cap for the 45 and a very scribbled-on manual.

And the TL200 isn't really a big deal: too short and squatty, is the best way to cause red eye in every shot. The TL140 is a bit taller and, hence, may do a bit better preventing red-eye (though you still can get it).

Oh! See to get the 45 later. The Planar 35 is good, but the 45 is even better.

Go for it!!

I would definitely consider the B&H demo kit for the extra $80. I've bought used and demo stuff from B&H before and I've yet to receive something that couldn't pass for new.

it includes all instruction, strap and box, manual. i inspected the thing. it does look like all new.

If that's the case, it looks like a real nice deal on a great camera - enjoy! Be sure to report back on your experiences - I'll be interested to see how you like it.

Good luck!

Not a bad deal at all. I my second G1 for about the same, with the 35mm but the TLA 200 and he threw in his camera bag and some old film. I bought from a guy on the Contax G site. I got a few more extras. But its a good deal. Just make sure its the green label.

I picked up my kit: g1, 35 mm f/2, tla 140, two filters:UV and 81A,
strap, instructions, case for flash, (no case for body or lens),
four rolls of slide films, the store will process test rolls for free.

For $460.00 (tax included)

Is that a good price?
