Hi

I recently got a Yashica electro CC and have had nothing but trouble with it.

Most of the problems are bearable because i love the camera for so many reasons. But I am having a problem with the battery....

The seller sold me the camera with the wrong battery cover on. It is kind of bulging out, but still works intermittently, when screwed in at the right angle (nightmare). The problem is that my SR44 battery lasted less than a week before needing replaced!

Does anyone know of anything like this happening before or what it might be/can be done about it? Because otherwise it will probably be a paypal dispute and loads of hassle and possibly expense when i just want the camera to work!!!

Thanks for any help!

Hi, I had one of these; they can be a pain, but if you are handy, can be fixed easily. Just get a standard battery to fit in the chamber, and make a packing piece so that the battery is snug. preferably a copper washer of the correct size. Then close the chamber, and hey- it works ! this is what I did with mine- no problems after that. Hope this helps a little.:)

Thanks

Unfortunately i took it to a pro today and it is because of the battery cover. He also says the corrosion inside is so bad it will soon destroy something else (to do with wiring??) so apparently it cant be fixed.

The cover is the incorrect fit and the metal on it comes in contact with the casing and shorts the battery. It would be enough to bend the metal round a bit but ironically it is the metal touching the casing that keeps the cover from falling off.

I dont want to spend any more money on it. I am trying to send it back but the seller will not admit that its his fault. Unbelievable really since how can it be my fault?!

I bought it off rangefinder.com and he took the ad down so i cant leave feedback or anything. I would recommend no one buy from the guy again. The bloke in the shop today said there is no way he couldnt have known it was dodgy.

Im so gutted, really wanted the camera its a beauty otherwise!

I was just getting ready to suggest contacting Frontman for the battery cap, but he beat me to the punch.:D

As for the internal wiring getting corroded, that is a possibility, but not un-fixable. It's just a matter of replacing the wire from the top of the battery compartment to the meter. A little bit of effort, but not too complicated. A battery powered Weller soldering iron is real handy for that job.

Looks like good help here... one more tip....

Try to contact an eBay seller.... Fotofila.....
I have purchased from him before.
He lists and has for years a number of Yashica Electro's and in particular a number of CC and CCN models.

I think he either fixes them himself or has someone on tap who does. I do know that he has someone to gathers up Fuji Rangefinders for him.

He may know of a solution... I'm sure he knows the camera well.

Right now he has one up. He almost always has a CC listed. He's over 3000 listings with 100% positive. He tends to get top dollar for his stuff, but he's fair. The stuff he gets top dollar for are good. When he has something a bit wonky, his prices usually reflect such.

Our own Frontman, who made the generous offer above, is eBay seller Sangetsu03

I highly recommend him for cameras and first hand advice.
