Heh. The more I look at it, the more I will feel tempted to add one to my compact 35 camera kit. In fact the only thing I'm not yet sure about is the AF itself.. but that's me.

Totally agree! I’m a longtime shooter of Rollei 35 cameras, and feel pretty comfortable with scale focus. That said, the prospect of a new, AF film camera in Rollei clothing is exciting. I’ve looked at the website and the test photos and it all looks very promising. I need another camera like a hole in the head, but the Rollei 35AF sure looks tempting. It is definitely made to closely resemble the classic Rollei 35 models. I think they picked a great camera to represent their foray into a higher-end 35mm compact. Let's hope it can deliver the goods!

I really don't need another film camera, but this is interesting. Good times for film shooters. A new Pentax 1/2 frame camera on the way, and this full-frame Rollei.

I thought the tiny round OLED display an interesting choice. They can probably make it very useful if they design it right. Maybe part-time frame counter and part-time indicator for certain settings?

In these times of super expensive film a half frame camera is not a bad idea. I think they should have chosen a wider lens though…

Certainly seems more promising than Pentax's effort. I wish it was a 40mm though like the original.

Looks like this new MINT Rollei will cost between $600-$800 USD when introduced. They're taking pre-orders.

What do you suppose the right-hand dial is for with its series 12, 16, 24, 27, 36?
It's like one of those puzzles where you have to predict the next number.

Is the lens used on that camera a zeiss one like on the original ? A camera coming oit with such a name has to have an excellent lens..

It looks like a frame number memory, where you can recognize weather you have a 135-12, -16, -24, -27 or -36 roll loaded. What do you suppose the right-hand dial is for with its series 12, 16, 24, 27, 36?

That was my first thought, but who loads a 27 exposure film? Just seems a weird number. It looks like a frame number memory, where you can recognize weather you have a 135-12, -16, -24, -27 or -36 roll loaded.

Fellow detective discovered that the two dials actually have aperture and shutter speed markings respectively.
So, manual mode? Or even complete set of PASM? Finger crossed.
All these, for $800. Seems too good to be true

If buses are any guide we should be expecting the new Contox tE shortly - nothing for 20 years and then…
The timing of this does look a bit like a deliberate spoiler for Pentax, which is a shame if the market can’t make both worthwhile for their manufacturers. F the market is big enough then that would be great.

The timing? We’ve been talking about the MINT on this site for just as long as the Pentax. Both have been showing their progress for maybe 1.5 years. The camera was no secret. It isn't spoiling anything if you cannot buy it still. The timing of this does look a bit like a deliberate spoiler for Pentax, which is a shame if the market can’t make both worthwhile for their manufacturers. Beautiful camera, just like the original. I would love to own one, I really would. But my old Rollei SE is still sitting there with the roll of film in it from a year or two ago. Still unprocessed, still neglected. I love the little camera but I just can't get into doing film again.

Yeah, it isn't going to be a Zeiss lens... they only are using the Rollei name.it says 5 element all glass lens but I doubt it will be zeiss

"Yes, you read that right. We are thrilled to announce that Rollei has graciously granted us permission to use their logo. This collaboration marks an exciting step forward for all parties involved. The Rollei brand will undoubtedly increase awareness for this camera. After pouring our hearts and souls into this project, I really hope the Rollei 35AF becomes accessible to a broader audience."

So the main competitor at this size and film is the contax t3. If they cant compete this quality of lens after so many years then they planed the whole project wrong. With the prices of film its worth it to use it only with top notch glass.it says 5 element all glass lens but I doubt it will be zeiss
