Thanks for posting this thread. I went on Macodirect site and bought 10 rolls (they would not accept higher order). And now this film is gone from their site. So I guess it's not really back in production...

You are correct, it is not back in production.
Provia 400X has been officially discontinued in all formats by Fujifilm Japan:

There is some stock remaining (mostly 120 size) that is sold off currently, so remaining stocks may or (may not) surface sporadically in stores like Maco direct over the coming weeks. If you need to have this film, grab it while you still can. It's not gonna come back in the foreseeable future.

I someone sees the supply come back to Maco Direct or another store, please let me know. I love slide as well, Provia 100F is a great film.

Looks like this is done in Japan. All the online retailers are out. Prices on Ebay reflecting as such.
