Having just received a QL-17 GIII and familiarised myself with the operation (all working OK, shutter, aperture and rangefinder) I replaced the light seals and, since that, the shutter, although cocked, will not release. Admittedly, the rear door is a bit tight to close with new seals but not bad enough to cause a problem. The self-timer is not set, and the red indicator shows the shutter is cocked. The counter reset is working fine and the aperture opens correctly when depressing the shutter release. I can't think what else fitting the seals could have affected.
Any help appreciated as I can't wait to get a film in it.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but it's the first thing that came to mind. Bear with me.
Are you using the auto setting? Are you in a dim room? The shutter locks on my Canonet 28 when it isn't bright enough in the room. Just a thought, but probably not the problem.

Oh dear, sounds like the dreaded sticky shutter to me... it has happened to me twice now!! I think the bottom line is if you bought it from someone who didn't use it much, it *will* happen. The only thing you can do is to follow the guidelines set out by the chaps in this forum and either:
1. take the lens elements out from the front and clean the shutter blades with lighter fluid
2. take the lens elements out from the back and clean with lighter fluid
here is a page that might help

I'm currently waiting for my lens wrench to arrive from ebay to tackle the lens from the back, so wish us both good luck!
