I just received a brand new Single Coat version of this lens, I am using it on am M3 body. I've noticed something peculiar that I suspect may have to do more with the camera then the lens but I have no other lens to test so.. it's hard to know.

Here is the issue. The rangefinder patch stops moving from 0.8 down to the minimum focus of 0.7. However, from 0.8 and out it responds fine to the focusing. I don't see how this could be normal.. but is it? Can anyone illuminate this situation?

Thanks much!

The question is, if you set the lens at minimum focus and full aperture, and then compose with the RF patch indicating proper focus on the subject, is the actual point of focus in front of the subject?

AFAIK the 40mm Nokton generally focuses properly on M-Leicas - if yours uncouples at 0.8m, your RF is not properly adjusted.

Hmm I see. Darn. Well looks like my M3 may get a nice CLA sooner rather then later.

I appreciate the response!
