Questions about CV lenses for Nikon RF

What I find interesting is that relatively few of the SC lenses ever show up used! I dont know if they are "hoarded" as future retirement funds (not a good reason for hoarding anyway) or they are just doing what they do so well - take pictures!
I have the prototype 50f3.5 Heliar - the Mole Hill Heliar (Leica used to have a 105f6.3 known as the mountain Elmar so I thought that the shorter one should have an appropriate monniker).

I think they don't often show up used because unless one is a shooter rather than a collector and so "trading up" to a faster lens (going from a 35 2.5 to a 35 1.8 for example) there isn't really any point in simply swapping a CV lens for its original Nikon counterpart. Of course the collectors would disagree, but I don't think they would have purchased the CV lenses in the first place.
And as for being future collectibles or investments? Despite their relative rarity in terms of numbers produced, I believe they are merely curiosities that will never follow the original lenses and become collectibles, but merely remain relatively inexpensive shooters lenses.

By the way, If CV make some fast-wide lenses like 28/2, I'm gonna buy it. I think they should make high speed lenses Nikon users never had experience.

I was hoping for a real 35/1.2... that would be awesome.

For the sake of completeness, another S-mount lens manufactured by Cosina was the Zeiss Sonnar 50mm f1.5

I agree, a 50f1.1 in SC mount would be something!

I would definitely be more interested in a few things out of Cosina for the Nikon S-mount RFs. I would like to see the re-release of the F/S adapter, although I managed to pick one up late last year, a S/M adapter along with any future releases being compatible with the adapter, so I don't have to buy lenses twice, this might just be something that would never happen.

Then I would like to see some exciting glass released! While all of the lenses they released in S-mount were great, the only thing I was really interested in was the 21/4 since I couldn't find/afford the original Nikkor version. But I'd take the 2.8cm/3.5 over the CV and so on for all the other redundant lenses they released. A fast wide like the 28/2 or either of the fast 35's: 1.2 or 1.4 would have both been a must buy for me. Maybe old Kobayashi will do it, but I doubt it.

I'd love to have a Zeiss 18/4 in S-mount too.

I hope Mr Kobayashi release an F/C adapter again, we'll be able to enjoy many modern Nikkor lenses with it although we cannot use a rangefinder. I'm gonna try a fish-eye Nikkor on my SP!

I found a F/SC adapter a couple of months ago after calling over 40 stores in Korea. One guy with one adapter left. I had almost given up.

Ah, the joys of being a foreigner. I must have been calling all the wrong ones in Seoul, Busan and several other cities. Price was fine though. No expat markup.

Only if it at least focused to .9 like the Nikkor-N. Tom, seeing as your a good acquaintance of Mr. K, is there a specific reason he limited the focus of the CV 50/1.1 to 1m?

It was discussed and the problem is to keep image quality and by having the lens focussing closer than 1 meter would require a different optical formula and increased the cost substantially. The difference between 0.9 and 1.0 m would not warrant a redesign. I asked if it was possibly to have it focus to 0,7 m and it would be very difficult to guarantee pin-point focus - even with a floating element formula - and a substantial cost increase and complexity (as well as size and weight).

Does it work okay? I know it's rangefinder uncoupled... just curious if it is worth the hassle.

If I understood your question correctly the distance for F mount is 46.50 mm. Leica M is 27.80mm.

On another note, I've got two R2S bodies (one "normal", the other NHS), the serial numbers are 010213x (NHS) and 010097x (normal). It looks that are more than 900 bodies... since the R2 has 000349x numbers.
