I've acquired a lovely CL with 40mm Sum. to replace my M7 outfit - knackered boiler needed replaced - dont ask!

🙁

The camera will get plenty of use but I DO like to keep them in nice condition. The camera will live in a Leica Case M (The one designed for an M and collapsable 2.8 50mm) so will need a decent wrist strap. Luigi has suggested the strap he does where the thin end of the strap is threaded through the thicker end but I hate (this is not too strong a word) the way it looks. So I'm looking for a recommendation on a decent wrist strap that wont mark the camera body if anyone can help.

Secondly the camera is new to me via e-bay and is cosmetically perfect, the lens is similar except that the paint has worn out of a lot of the numbering on the barrel. Glass looks very good. My instinct is to send the camera to CRR or similar and have it CLA'd regardless and ask if the lens can have the numbering repainted/restored. Again any advice or experience would be gratefully received and some pointers in terms of where to send and likely costs. I live in the UK.

Then I'll take some pictures. 😱

Martin I use one of Gordy's long tripod mount wrist straps on my CL (cheap, nice and had it within a week from the US) but I guess that will be of no good to you if you are using a case. I would check out Gordy's site too as well as Luigi's.

Martin, if a buyer ask, I fastly like to find a solution ! -
I can easily make a wrist strap proper for the CL (lug),
without the tiny tail that you... HATE ! 🙂 - Ciao, Luigi

The numbering is very easy to restore with lacquer sticks from micro-tool, it's routine to re-fill the engravings as needed when a CLA is done..
I like carrying my cl on the long neck strap so it hangs under my right arm, like a purse or um something manley, then bunch up the strap to grab it as I raise it to my eye. I feel less like it's going to bash into walls and other people's bodies that way.

Great move, Martin. As much as I like the Luigi half cases on my M6 and M3, I really love the Luigi half case on my Leica CL. Just makes that little gem so much more solid, refined, elegant, comfortable, etc., etc. I added one of the no-longer-made M Classics wrist straps to mine and it's the perfect pocket/travel rig now.

Enjoy!

"Decent wrist strap that won't mark the camera?"

Strap's an Optex, drastically modified at the attachment end. That's a piece of inner tube between the split ring and the lug.
