Some quick backyard snaps with my new Sigma 30mm/2.8 on my NEX6; with the last one (in my dining room), I wanted to see what the the lens can do with shallow DOF. All of the images are straight from the camera, all at f2.8. Not bad for a $149 lens.

All the images look fine. When the chance arises, it'd be nice to see how the lens handles more contrasty situations.
Your images show what I've been suspecting for some time now... there just aren't bad lenses anymore. It seems that modern lens design and manufacturing is producing uniformly excellent lenses at all prices.

If I didn't buy the sigma DP2m, this is the combo I would have bought. Appears to be a great lens at an awesome price.

Well-known
I just bought this for my NEX-7 and it arrived Friday.

Being a Sigma DP'er also ... I felt this might be too redundant on my 5n.
That is the ONLY reason why I have not bought it yet. Let's see how long that line in the sand lasts!

After I decided to give my 5n a second chance (after the hillbilly video button fix), I ordered the sigma 30 during the sale just because of how good the 30 is on the dp2m
Not sure if the lens formula is exactly the same, but we shall c.

Thanks for posting those pictures.
I am seriously considering the 6. I already have the 5N and 30mm Sigma, which I consider to be a stellar combination.
For me the only reason for owning the NEX is the Sigma 19 and 30, and the Zeiss 24. Hopefully Sigma will come up with a 55/60.
These lenses make the NEX one of the most, if not the most, useable mirrorless systems around. In my opinion that is.

It's not the same formula, but still... appears to be a great lens.

Finally at home...
I just love the EX 2.8/30 DN!! It's amazing on my NEX-7 as well as on my NEX-3.
I also bought the EX 2.8/19 DN and that's also a fanastic lens. It's incredible what level of performance you get for such a price!
