R-D1s users - any issue with using Leica?

I have an R-D1s and have used it with a variety of lenses without problems. Were you concerned about a specific lens?

my previous R-D1s didnt work with 75 summilux.
now, my currenty R-D1s doesnt work with 40 summicron.
i am thinking about noctilux, but not sure if this lens will work with my camera.
again, i am only referring to R-d1s (the body with 'S" lettering on the body).

Not at all and it works perfectly with my 3 copies 🙄 of the Summicron-C 40/2 as well. Not the same with my M-Rokkor 40/2 which back focuses with both my R-D1 and R-D1s though. Must come from the lens given the good results i get with my other M lenses so far.

I have not had any problems using a Noctilux with my R-D1s (yes, the "s" version), as long as you are aware of the well documented idiosyncrasies of the lens. In fact, I find the "look" of this lens/sensor combination to be extremely pleasing. I have not tried the 75 lux or the 40 summicron, so can't tell you if its a general problem...

Can't guarantee you won't have issues, but I've had no problems with exactly this combination.

My 40mm Summicron-c refused to focus on the RD-1 but all the other Leica lenses did including ones that needed calibration on the M8 when no calibration problems existed on the RD-1. That's strange.

Contrary to regular M lenses, the Summicron-C 40/2 has a sloping cam causing focussing issues with some M bodies reportedly. Never got the least problem with mine fortunately but this could explain your experience eventually.

Im a clean newby on RF matters but I found it remarkable that noone seems to have noticed my post. Agree, my obersvation most likely wont explain all malfunctions/imcompatabilities/calamities.. :=)
And yes, its a R-D1 without the s.

With mounting my summicron 50 (pre-asph, built-in hood, will check the # later on) on my R-d1. Going from infinity to close is ok and smooth, from close to infinity stiffens up gradually. Sent the lens to my technician, nothing wrong with it and it indeed works fine on my m2, m4 and m5. And my other lenses go great with the R-d1. There just seems to be some mechanical incompatibility. A pity because I really like the summicron ..

You describe the problem the same way as at least one other in this thread - smooth when focusing one way, stiff (or uneven) when going the other way.
And the same way I have described it earlier (please look at my post above that will bring you to further threads).
Basically the problem is that there is a 3mm diameter difference on the cams, between "old" and "new" Leica lenses. This is just enough to get the camera roller to ride on the edge of the cam - hence the different feeling when focusing in and out, the roller "pushing" or "letting go". This is a question of fine marginals, and for many cameras this isnt an issue al all.
