R2 or M6?

If it's an R2A you might miss the aperture priorty mode however. If it isn't, or you won't miss it anyway you should most definitely get the M6. The prices for used M6's must be pretty low in Ireland if you can recoup enough cash from your Bessa?

It's just an R2. It is near mint, and with the money I already have, if it were to sell for as little as £150, I would have £800+ . I'm glad that everyone agrees that I should get the M6, as that's what I was thinking anyway. Next question, chrome or black?

That's exactly what I did. Haven't regretted it ever, not even for a second.

Don't worry about the finish too much, when you find the right one; take it.

The questions that you need to ask are wether or not you should get a Classic M6 or a TTL and if you'd prefer a .72 finder or an .85.

Just be aware that .85 TTL M6's are far more abundant than the Classic versions.

Also, I forgot to say that if you want the classic dimensions with a .72 finder and can learn to live without a built in meter, don't rule out the M4-P. It's everybit an M6 minus the meter and can be had for rather a lot less. If you're concerned about buying lenses and things then that may be the way to go.

There can't be that many 14 year olds with Leica cameras. Good luck whatever you choose to do.

I think that depends on what you look for in a camera. I started off with an R2 and upgraded to an M6 because it cost me nothing out of my pocket, but with that said there are things I like about the M6 (build quality, quieter shutter) and things I miss about the R2 (brighter viewfinder, the shutter speed dial). At the risk of saying something unpopular, I wouldn't get the Leica just for the sake of getting a Leica.

The M6 feels better (personal opinion) and is smoother but the viewfinder flares as hell. Both of them are great cameras, the bessas just being louder and a lot cheaper.

Both of them use the same lenses, so your pictures will usually look exactly the same, isn´t it?

Right. I'm getting a Black M6 (somehow the pink didn't do it for me). TTL if I can find one cheap enough, though I'm not worried if it isn't TTL. Wow. I'm getting a Leica. 😀
