I'm sure this has been asked before but what is the differance, and what is better? Also, what will last longer (I ask because I've been having camera trouble latley)?

If you prefer a mechanical camera, then the R2 is better.

Otherwise, the R2A is an upgrade from the R2. Close focus capability is 8 inches closer at 0.7 meters instead of 0.9 meters (about 3 feet). The film advance of the R2A is reportedly better with the addition of ball bearings. The eyepiece is better & can be unscrewed & replaced with a diopter adjusted eyepiece if needed. For as long as the camera lasts, an electronic shutter will be more accurate than a mechanical one & allows for AE and AE lock, which are not available on the R2. If you haven't already done so, visit www.cameraquest.com for a description of both cameras.

Good luck with your decision,
Huck
