I apologize in advance for the content of this question, but I haven't seen it answered specifically in the way I need to ask it.

I'm debating the purchase of an R2A versus an R3A.

I definitely want to use either with the Nokton 40 1.4 ... i like the inbetween 35mm and 50mm focal length, and the lens sounds superb.

It sounds like a no-brainer to pair this with the R3A, due to the 40mm lines. However, there are many comments about not being able to see them with glasses.

I wear contacts most of the time, but do find myself wearing glasses now and then, and I don't want to shut myself out because of that.

So, the question is, how well do the 35mm frames in the R2A work with the 40mm Nokton?

I foresee maybe picking up a 90mm in addition at some point, but initially expect this to be a one-lens kit. (augmenting my canon digital stuff)

I like the 1:1 concept, but don't want to be frustrated by the finder with my glasses... and don't want to be frustrated framing a 40mm lens with 35mm lines, if that's going to be a problem.

thanks in advance

I don't wear glasses, but I find the 40 frame lines on the R3A a bit tight to use (and cameras sit really close to my eye). It's positively fantastic with a 50 mm lens, however.

If you really want a camera want to use with the 40mm, I'd suggest the R2A/M, esp. since you wear glasses sometimes. Good luck!

Welcome !

The 35mm framelines of the R2* work very well with 40mm.
And then you can use the full frame for 28mm.

Generally, there are also less alignment issues with the R2*.

Best,

Roland.
