R2M Question/Help

I recently bought a like new R2M from a member and finally shot a few rolls. I noticed that the little rewind crank arm is not snug enough to stay put when I turn the camera on its side or upside down. Am I missing something about the way the little crank arm works? Or is there a remedy to this that someone can recommend. I don't want to loose the little crank arm which would render the rewind like a Barnack.

They often seem to 'wobble' away from the closed position - sometimes stopping you winding on if you're sensitive enough not to force it! I've never had one that I though would fall off though. Usually just a bit of an irritant. If it seems loose and likely to fall off the rewind knob you may want to get it looked at.

Ray - Had a similar problem while overseas (Prague/Berlin) and I managed to snap the crank arm off while hurrying to change film. Stupid me not paying attention. Found a camera mechanic in Berlin who "built" a temp rewind arm for me (from Leica parts) and when I returned to Australia my usual mech replaced the arm with "real" Voiglander spare. From my personal experience I would recommend you having this replacement done sooner than later as you may find that that your once in a lifetime shot ruined by lack of frame advance plus blisters on your knuckles trying to rewind the film!!!

Thanks guys....I thought perhaps I was missing some trick but I guess its just poor build quality. Shame I have had other Bessas and they were built better than this R2M by a mile.

My R2 and R4M has the rewind crank pop out occasionally but besides that love both a lot.
