I'm looking at the R2A/R3A pages on CQ and it seems that the design of the winder lever on the black body is different than the gray body. Can anyone confirm?

The lever is obvisouly different so I would like to know which camera version has which lever.

I think the reason for the newer design is to allow the whole rewind knob to rotate when film is advanced, as opposed to just the center shaft rotating. I can see the knurled knob on the older style wearing the paint down over time where it contacts the body. It may cost less/be more durable as well.

I prefer the older style on my R2a than the new style on my R2m.

The bloody thing snags on things when carrying, putting in/pulling out of bags and just about everywhere.

OK, it's not that bad, but it snagged three times over the weekend and the R2a one never had this problem.

My R3a has the older style and my R4m has the newer style. I too am experience the snagging problem with the newer style crank. It just seems to flip out easier and catch on my bag, both going into the bag and coming out. It doesn't happen all the time - just a small annoyance.
