Did Leica or anyone else make a raised shutter release for the Barnack cameras? I'm looking for something similar to the one Nikon made for the F-2. That would make shooting with my IIIa a lot easier while wearing gloves. Thanks for your help.

Nikon AR-1 works when not screwing fully.
Just try on my IIIf, trigger the shutter when screwing.
Same with my IIIa.
May need some sort of ring to level and not to screw it too far.
The shutter is very sensitive but the feeling is "soft release".

I've seen that Leica one listed on other ebay auctions and they all say it's made for an M series. The only indicator that may be true is the threaded shaft coming down through the middle of the housing. For some reason, I thought there was a release made for the Barnack cameras. I will get an AR-1 and try that. Thanks for the replies.

What about for the M?
I'm also having some problems with the shutter release and the cold!
Do Tom A's or other softreleases work well while wearing gloves? Thinking of getting one for this reason.

Correct Jerevan. I use my F2 release also on my FE, and my IIIF as well as on the IIIG. Fits very snug as the cup goes over and threads tight.

Good to know my memory is still working okay. 😀 I tried the AR-1 on a IIIc or a IIIf. The Nikon AR-2 cable release also works fine on these cameras. Extremely high quality piece of equipment by the way, highly recommended.

I'e used the AR-1 on my IIIc's and IIIf's - I think the IIIc needed a little spacer to keep the AR-1 from screwing down all the way and keeping the shutter tripped. I made my spacer out of a pen-tube, cut across with a razor.
