Rangefinder desadjusted - But, which screw to solve doubel image on the finder path?

Hi guys,

I know there are may threats about rangefinder adjustment and I have already gone through them but my doubt is very specific.

My finder path has a double image (more at closer ranges than infinity) which is above the subject in focus.

I've tried already moving screws 1,2 and 3 but the image on the finder path is still above the subject.

So the question is this: which of those screws I should have o move to match the subject and the focusing image: 1, 2 or three? I've haven't try whit the no. 4 because I don't want to remove the top plate. The focus is ok when it comes to front and back focusing (even left and right), but not top and down.

Any clue?

I believe screw 3 is the answer for your vertical alignment.

i adjust screw 4 once, just because the close-far focus is not correct. It focus fine in infinity, but error on short distance.
It will adjust the gain of the arm movement.

best way to do calibration is using a known good lens with wide aperture, target shot at specific distance (1m, infinity), tripod. Few thing to be check:
1. Lens scale vs actual result. Test by shooting object with lens scale as your reference, check the result. If both infinity/1meter shot is focused properly, you have a good lens to do the rest.
2. At infinity, adjust rangefinder vertical adjustment until it's ok. (screw 3)
3. Lens scale vs rangefinder. With lens set at specific range (assume, 2-3meter), do a test shot, confirm the result is OK on LCD, then adjust the RF to to focus to the same object. (screw 2)
4. Do step no 3 for infinity, if ok, check for 1m object. If all ok, done. If not, try to adjust screw 1 and see if focus patch get blurry or not. Do shot test for infinity/close distance, if needed, do step no 3.
5. If still not correct, open the top cover, set screw 1 to get sharp picture in the patch, then
adjust screw 4, and recheck all from by doing step 2-4

that's what I do.

that's what I do.

So you adjust screw #2 at set distance (say 1m scale focus) and at infinity?

Do you use loctite or nail varnish, and how do you apply it through the top plate? I can adjust the screws ok, but not sure how to apply liquid safely to the screws. I'm also not sure where or even if to apply to the vertical adjustment screw.
