A friend of mine, in fact the one who provided me with my new M6, suggested when I mentioned the rangefinder flare issue that I go here and look at their product called the "shade" which purports to eliminate the problem, albeit at the expense of a 40% reduction in brightness. Low light is generally not an issue, but I do a lot of outdoor photography where it definitely is.

Have any of you experienced M6 owners out there used it? Are there other solutions that I may be unaware of? I realize from a recent post that lack of flare in the viewfinder is one of the attractions of the MP, but that is not an option for me. Thank you all in advance.

Respectfully,

the flare rarely happens and, if ever, under extreme conditions of lighting (usually in dark situations with bright light sources on a side). i do have the shade and it works. but it doesn't fit to a nicety and, as jaapv mentioned, tends to get dislodged. you may need to splice the sides of the shade so it will sink and fit snuggly into the window which i am planning to do with some care.
