Re-lubing I-50 Instructions

There are no pictures. It's so simple none are needed. I didn't bother with the iris.

Thank you for your very kind offer, however the J9 is already in the post with a cheque for the CV 50mm Nokton; also I am quite new to this rangefinder business (bught my firt RF camera last July) but I think part of the fun is to be able to do some basic servicing on your equipment.
And what better lens to start with than an inexpensive I-50? Even if I damage it it won't be a big loss.

Since you are in the UK like me you might be able to answer a couple of questions:

What kind of polish available in the UK would you recommend for the chrome?
And what grease for lubricating it?

The grease I use comes from work. It is a red aviation grade grease called Mobilgrease 28. I can easily send a small tub down. You need a fully synthetic grease which is not too thick and doesn't "bleed" any oil out of it. A good test is to put a "dollup" of the stuff on a piece of paper and leave it for 24 hours or so. The dollup shouldn'y loose it's shape or cause a large oil stain on the paper. There isn't a lot of chrome on the FSU lenses, it's aluminium and most have been coated with a laquer. If most of this has gone, you have nothing to lose but otherwise I would just give it a good clean if need be with some Cif cream. If you do polish any good metal polish like Silvo or car chrome cleaner works well.
