Hi All ...
New here...

Anyone here re-skin their M6 bodies ?

How do you remove the frame selector lever and the ISO dial ?

... thanks ...

... thanks ...

Hi Stu...
Many tks...

Good cuts they do.

Saw some nice Bullfrog hides on the *bay .

My wish is for a chocolate ostrich emboss. That'll be just perfect.

But then the cutting to size would be dicey, requiring great care. Unlike the other bodies which are simpler.

Hi all.
Does anybody know if a M3 DS keeps the same value if has been re-skin with snake pattern vinyl?
I got one on ebay...was terrible leatherette so I decided to re-skin.
Thanks.

I just purchased a clean M3 and the xovering is bad on the back. I ordered a back replacement piece and will use it for now but later plan to get the brown ostrich from Camera Leather. I emailed and was told it had to be ordered on the phone or email and was not on the website.

It only has value if you decide to sell it.

i just covered my 1995 ds m3 in purple snakeskin emboss from aki.

I've decided....

Just ordered a Cherry Red Snakeskin from Aki.....

He explained the Ostrich emboss was unsuitable (too thick) for the M6.

Sigh....

Any Ostrich help here would be appreciated.

I'd like to put a new cover on my M6, simply for the sake of a different look. I'm afraid that no matter how good the aftermarket skin is, the re-skin will "never" be as tight, or fitted as the factory skin. Is this concern valid?

not really.
the aki cover is a perfect fit.
if mine was black i doubt that anyone could tell it from the original.
the fit is exact.

I really didn't need to see this thread... now I've got these thoughts of a CL wearing Aki's Yellow Lizard cowskin... 😱

Is the cover on the stock M6 "vulcanite"? If not, is vulcanite a lot different in feel?

No, the M6 covering is not vulcanite, it's PVC. Vulcanite is difficult to remove, the M6 cover just peels off. Vulcanite can be removed by applying a chemical or by chipping it off. Either way quite laborious compared to the M6 covering.

Vulcanite is vulcanised rubber that's impossible to apply for us DIY'ers. Vulcanite is certainly different in feel compared to the bog standard M6 covering. Fondle a M3, M2 or M4 to get an idea what vulcanite is all about. Ahh the smell of vulcanite... 😀

No not IMO. I have only experience with cameraleather.com but the end result (fit NOT looks!) is just as good as the Leica applied cover. Read the installation instructions. Just go slow, take your time and don't rush it.

Why settle for faux leather on a Leica when you can have the real thing?
