Don't be too hard on yourself; I'll bet a lot of users think the M6 stock covering is just fine. My old M2 has the original vulcanite (burnt tree sap?) and I never really thought to change it, even though some newer cameras have a grippy reslilent rubbery coating that makes it easier to grip securely. I should consider something classier like Aki's real leather covers too for a better tactile experience. 🙂
I have an a la carte with black calfskin. After reading the cameraleather.com
info I looked carefully at my camera. The calf skin is very thin and on the right
side of the camera there is a narrow gap between the bottom edge of the top plate and the surface of the leather of about 1-2mm. I think this is because
the leather is thinner than the allowance made for the standard covering.
Note how the cameraleather covers vary slightly in length(according to the
website) depending on the thickness of the material to account for the
differing outer and inner diameters they make around the curves, which also
affects the placement of the holes.
Guys, here some images of my new covering, the texture feels like velvet. I love it. It took me 2 hours to do the job, I think looks ok.
Sure better than when I got it!
