Just buy the products that Leica makes that will last. Buying an M8 is like buying a porsche boxter or cayman (not a real porsche...)-- yes i know this analogy does not hold with concern to price, but you get what i'm saying...

The Prius battery has a $200 bounty on it--Toyota will buy it back and it is 100% recyclable. In the ten years the Prius has been on the road, not one battery has been replaced from wear and tear. The battery cost continues to fall-three years ago it was $8,000 for a complete new battery. Neither you nor I know the cost of the replacement by time it is needed or if it is needed. I am quite happy to drive this car for 38 years.

I don't know what is more dissapointing, that Leica (NJ and Solms wear the same name tag) continue to allow this BS customer service to continue or some posters thinly veiled attacks on the OP's story and decisions.
It was a Story very similar to this that cleared up Leica's role in my digital kit bag.

Oh and by the way, the Prius is worse for the environment than an SUV due to the process of mining nickle (used in the battery) in Canada (which has its own eco footprint). People seldom realize this... Only Americans buy the Prius because we are ignorant. You wont find a single Prius anywhere else but in America (which is typical).

Really, I am just down on my country these days. Maybe this was just a way to vent. My point still remains however about the Prius.
I have been traveling all around the world recently and was speaking from personal experience only. After all, I am an American too.
It's always great when only the side comments are attacked and not the real issue.

I liked the earlier version of this post that you`ve edited (at least twice)
before the "just trying to stir things up" part. And that`s the trouble around
here lately - people trying to stir shyte and trolling. At least go to the Off
