I thought the recent auction prices were down on average, except the rifle stock one which was up there. Times changing?

Well, if fools want to spend that much on it, it's their problem. For a user, any old M3 repainted black would be a much better choice, obviously.

I've never understood the love for wear/brassing on old Leicas. I think it's ugly.

Not a fool. I would have bought that camera if I had the money (and if it were a real, original BP M3). $9,000 for the camera, I put in $500-1000 in restorations, sends it off to auction and get my cut. If things work out the buyer is looking at a pretty good payday here. Nobody buys these to shoot, they buy these to put in a display shelf.

Well okay, investment is one thing. I meant a collector buying it for even more money.

I have an extremely rare and historically significant lens sitting here that I'm considering sending to Westlicht. So I get it.

But that's one ugly camera... 🙂
