Hi everyone,
Has anyone heard of a camera shop in Manchester called "Real Cameras"? I emailed them to give me a quote for servicing my Minolta XD-7 and they quoted me for half the amount of money than other major camera repairers, which I found it difficult to believe.
I am wondering if anyone has used their service and if they are happy with the results...
Regards,
Pan

Thanks guys, I am waiting for feedback.
If people are happy with their service, then it sounds like a very good deal to me.
Regards,
Pan.

Very reputable and knowledgeable. They don't have a shop it is actually an Aladdin's Cave
Never used the repair service but if Jem (owner and Leica expert, not a term I use lightly) says it is good then it is.
He has a picture of TomA on the wall, need to know more?

Hi. I work at the Real Camera and many people on here know me personally. We believe in sensible repair prices. I didn't answer the email regarding your camera but our engineer, with many many years of experince is very good and local to us. No expensive shipping to worry about as he picks them up and we don't add 50% to the bill like an ex Jacobs staff member told me they had done (which blew my mind as its a terrible way to treat the customers)
Some repairs we can do in house as we all have our own skills and a stock of spares and these repairs cost far less than if we have to send it away and often be done same day.
We try our best to be a old fashioned camera shop and provide a high quality of customer service and as a previous Customer before a staff member I recommend a visit (not long on the train from Stafford too, I went to university in SOT so im used to the trip)
We have a pretty good stock of Minolta md/mc stuff too

Hope this is ok with the moderators

It is indeed a fine place, when you walk through the door you see "Wonderful Things", there's even a small gallery - also nice to know they handle repairs and do some in-store.

How about this thread. It's like a fairy story with a happy ending - the prince the gold and his magic carriage.

Yep, a big thumbs up for Jem, Chris and the rest of the guys and the photos do not do the shop justice, they have far more stock than you see in the pics.
Jump on a train, join us for a coffee, some shooting and a visit to the shop.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but since there are a lot of UK people right here... I'll be in the UK for a couple of weeks this month. Are there any places that look more or less like this in London or B'ham that you would recommend?
thanks!

I will be in Manchester one day this month to pick up some papers, so I can contact people from this thread and see if anyone is available to join me for a visit to real cameras.
