Can anyone recomend a colour and a b&w film that would be good for sunny conditions and night flash work? Preferably something that has the feel of late 60's early 70's films.

Thanks.

Sorry, I should have mentioned. Colour print films is what I'm thinking. I know a lot of film from the time had pretty washed out colours which is not really what I want. But the washed out look could have been poor quality processing? I just want to get something that would be pretty authentic for the time.

I know what you mean, thinking back and looking at some old photos taken around that time they seem to have a certain 'look' to them, maybe a very mild yellow tint and washed out look, they may have just aged badly. I don't know of any current print films that would have that look. Might be worth recreating the look by scanning the neg or print and adjusting the colour in photoshop or other application.

I've read quite a few times in the forums about scanning negatives. What s/w do you use to , well, for want of the proper term, positive them??

I probably want something at 100 or 200 ASA for the colour, but I like the grain of the faster b&w films. I used Ektar 100 when I last did 35mm shooting but that is maybe "too good".

Ferrania (Italian) C-41 film has a more vintage look, IMO. You will most often find it re-badged under some supermarket or chemist (drug store) brand. I would have recommended Agfa, but since they went out of business as far as film goes, that's not an option unless you find a stock of well-kept film. Agfacolour 200 would probably fit the bill.

On the scanning side, has anyone ever tried one of those attachments for photographing slides with a digital slr? I'm not sure if they would work for negatives, but I can't see why not. Or is that cheating?
