While I have been out of work the last 4+ months, I have immersed myself in self-study, most of which has been photography related. I have exhausted my energy in that area and am looking to pursue study in other areas that I have had no time for in the past.

My interests lie in study of art and also language.

While I did have some art studies in under-graduate school, I never had the chance to paint, draw (oautside of architectural), etc., nor did I have the chance to go beyond Spanish as a language in high school. All of my graduate work was engineering related.

So, with little money (actually none), and a lot of time on my hands, what is the best way to structure some self-study in these areas?

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes public libraries have quite extensive audio language courses that you can loan.

I've often thought that one of those in combination with internet radio so you can tune in the country/language and emerse yourself in the sound of real conversation could be a good way to learn.

You could also try finding someone locally who speaks the language who can give you free lessons in exchange for some free service or instruction that you can provide.

Good luck - sounds like you're making constructive use of your time "off".
