Recurring dream of dropping my MP

Eventually you will and it will work afterward. The one nice thing about used equipment is that they have "injuries" to them and you use them without reservations.
 
Several times a year, I dream about losing cameras (leaving them somewhere, or not knowing where they are).

But last night I dreamed for the first time, as far as I recall, about someone stripping parts off my BMW R100RS and setting fire to the remainder.

In a separate dream in the same night, I also dreamed about a very pretty girl whose age, I think, would have landed me in jail if I'd done what I wanted to do in the dream. Even so, I greatly preferred this to the BMW dream. One day I'll learn the art of lucid dreaming: "Hey! This is a dream! I can do whatever I damn' well want!" But I didn't in this dream. Despite my inclinations...

Generally, I regard dreams as either nonsense, or learning experiences. If the dream happened in real life, what would I do? At the very least, they help me understand how to keep an eye on my camera, and how to keep my eye off pretty underage girls.

Oh: and I have dropped the MP in real life. Did it no harm whatsoever.

I left a Ricoh GX200 on a train once, in a coat pocket after terminating at King's Cross. Neither materialised after the cleaners did their sweep. Something of a pain.

I also dropped a bag with an Ikon in it and it knocked the rf out of alignment and made a sickening thud. That was it though.

I understand what you mean, it is already littered with brassing and scrapes, but dropping it is another ball game and I'm terrified of doing it since dropped my M4 years back and separated the finder. (I never got it fixed, just sold it as is.)
 
One of my MPs once slipped off my shoulder while I was tying my shoelace. It didn't fall very far, but the rewind knob landed directly onto the sidewalk, absorbing the brunt of the impact. Thankfully, it didn't do any real damage, but the slightly smushed knob now serves as a constant reminder to always make sure my camera is secure. Funny that I have a hard time remembering most things, but I can recount exactly where and when each nick or scrape came from.
 
When I have those types I find I keep telling myself (while still dreaming) that it's all a dream and that I'll be waking up soon...but it still feels real...when I do wake up I feel sooooo much better...I have dropped a camera or two so I know that initial feeling you get while dreaming...it sucks...
 
I have a secret cure for this problem. Please send me the camera so I can de-possess it. It may take a few attempts and there is a 4 month period between each attempt.
 
I find that doing a spot of ancillary damage to a camera is always a good way to assuage your fears of really breaking it - so I put a big dent in the front of my Nikon S2 (in that panel that houses the finger-wheel) and now I'm far less troubled 😛
