Hello all,

Can someone recommend a place in the UK where I could buy material that could be used as a replacement darkslide for a polaroid back?

I am after a 0.08cm thick black plastic or metal sheet that I could then cut into the required size.

Or a replacement darkslide for a Polaroid 405 back.

Presumably you don't have the original (if damaged) slide for measurement.

If the slide for a sheet film holder (eg 4X5) is large enough to cut down for the purpose I'd try one of those.

But before that I'd test for size with paper card stock and use that as a template.

Then I'd cut the proper slide slightly oversize, just in case the card stock template was off a bit. In other words I'd be prepared to take a little more off, trial/error.

Thanks for the ideas, was already looking at larger darkslides, but will probably try the modelshop first, a reasonable tuberide fromwork.

I made a replacement dark slide for a polaroid back from plastic cut from a black A4/Letter size folder from a stationary store. It is a little more flexible than an original dark slide, but it works fine. I cut it to size with an X-acto knife.
I have also made dark slides from aluminium sheet from a model shop like the one mentioned above, which I cut to size with a snip.
