Result of 'Make an offer' .......

Decided that the time had come to buy a new camera and get really 'with-it'.

Found what I wanted on eBay with a 'Buy it now' price and a 'Make an Offer'.
Looked promising!
Made an offer.
Counter offer made £5 more than my bid.
Included were seller's condions -

'- after he/she receives the item and is HAPPY with the transaction buyer will leave me excellent feedback and agree to cancel transaction when receiving a cancellation request or simply ignore it (i'll get refunded the fees after no response in 7'.

I had a similar request from a previous seller about a month ago - came from eBay. I refused to cancel and was informed by eBay that the case was closed.

What's your reaction? What IS going on here? I can't see that I am being scammed, eBay might be. I've 48 hours in which to respond.

@digitalintrigue is correct, I buy quite a bit on ebay and I have not seen this before, they are just trying to avoid the fee's....quite high risk for the ebay trader as it would be a definite ban.
 
Accept the offer, wait until you get the item and then tell the person that unfortunately you can't leave excellent feedback since you're not entirely happy about the transaction due to his attempt to avoid the fees. 😉

The seller is putting you on notice that he is slippery and has no problem taking advantage of someone so long as it benefits him.

You need to ask yourself if this is the sort of person you want to be involved in an internet financial transaction with.
 
I would not move forward with the deal. Two violations are occurring, 1) demanding positive feedback, 2) a process to evade ebay fees.

I would report the seller and move on...
 
If you really want the camera and want to bedevil the skeezy dealer, go back and buy it now at original price. then you get the camera and can feel free to leave any feedback you like. is it a hard to find camera at a rare price? if so i'd buy it at full price. if it's a relatively common camera i'd walk away.
 
Told the seller I liked his price but not his conditions and turned down his counter offer on that basis. In the end couldn't see any point in going along with two eBay violations.
I'll now continue to look elsewhere for a Sony RX100.
