I've taken the shutter/lens out of my Retina IIa to clean the lenses. (There is still a bit of haze in the two cemented pairs.)
I'm having trouble getting the shutter winding to work when I put the shutter back into the camera.
There is a shutter setting gear inside the housing that is marked X and M (for the flash sync lever position).
The outside rim of the shutter has a toothed cocking rack that fits against this shutter setting gear.
How does one find the right position of the shutter cocking rack relative to the shutter setting gear?
It has to be set right for the shutter to cock correctly. There are many choices of where to put the gear.
At some positions, the lever goes all the way but the shutter does not cock at all.
At the other end of the rack, the cocking lever cannot be pulled all the way, but the shutter does cock.
Clearly, somewhere in between is the right spot.
I have not been able to find it yet. I can get it set so that the shutter works on all speeds except 1/500.
What do I need to do to get it set so that all the speeds will work?
Thanks for any advice !
